Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
Awareness of historical evolution and territorial impact of tourism related to the dimension and typology of flows. Knowledge of the actual dimension and geographycal distribution of these latest and location of the incoming areas, with regard to the different scales of analysis. Learning of the basic concepts and main indicators of tourism sustainability and gain knowledge of notions and methodological instruments for territorial and landscape analysis, also diachronic, in order to develop abilities in understanding the territorial organization of a known area, recognising its real and potential tourist resources, and critically assessing the strategies adopted for the promotion of its local- tourist development

- Definizione dell’ambito di studio della geografia turistica; metodologia di analisi del fenomeno turistico dal punto di vista geografico;
- il fenomeno turistico: evoluzione storica, caratteristiche attuali e impatto sull’organizzazione del territorio in relazione alla dimensione dei flussi e alle diverse tipologie di turismo;
- consistenza attuale dei flussi turistici, loro distribuzione geografica e individuazione dei bacini di accoglienza, con riferimento alle diverse scale di analisi. Si prenderanno in considerazione innanzitutto le macro-aree e, al loro interno, le subregioni individuate dal UNWTO, alcune delle quali saranno analizzate in relazione sia alle loro caratteristiche geografiche generali sia, più in specifico, in relazione al loro sviluppo turistico; si procederà poi all’analisi di casi di studio alla scala nazionale, regionale e locale;
- concetti base e principali indicatori legati alla sostenibilità turistica;
- metodologia e strumenti di analisi territoriale e paesaggistica per la comprensione dell’organizzazione di un territorio, l’individuazione delle risorse turistiche reali e potenziali e la valutazione critica delle azioni di valorizzazione territoriale-turistica adottate in relazione a contesti specifici.
Nell’ambito delle lezioni è previsto l’intervento di alcuni testimoni privilegiati, compatibilmente con la disponibilità degli stessi, che proporranno l’approfondimento di alcune tematiche di studio partendo da esperienze concrete.
Conoscenze di base pregresse:
Si considerano già acquisite da parte dello studente conoscenze di base relative alle principali caratteristiche territoriali-amministrative, climatico-ambientali e socio-culturali dello scenario all’interno del quale si svolge il fenomeno turistico, alla scala mondiale, europea e nazionale italiana.

- Tavoletta IGM a scala 1:25.000 di un territorio a scelta della studente (è consigliabile che si tratti di un territorio vario dal punto di vista geo-morfologico al fine di permettere l’osservazione di più elementi).

Examination Methods
Written test:
- test made of ten (10) multiple choice questions on the territorial-administrative, climatic-environmental and socio-cultural features of the world macro-regions, Europe and Italy and on data related to tourist flows and their geographycal distribution (25% of total evaluation).
- three (3) open questions, precise answers required, on the rest of the programme.
For students attending the course one or more written test itinere will be organized.

Internships and apprenticeships
A mandatory internship period (6 CFUs) within business organizations is included in the study plan for the Bachelor’s degree in Languages and Cultures for Tourism and International Commerce (L12).
The internship is designed to provide students with practical experience in areas relevant to their future professional careers and to help them acquire specific professional skills.
Internship activities are conducted under the direct supervision of an individual lecturer and take place at professional firms, public administration offices, and companies accredited by the University of Verona.
Credits earned through internship activities will be awarded in accordance with the detailed provisions of the current “Regolamento d’Ateneo per il riconoscimento dei crediti maturati negli stage universitari” (University Regulations for the Recognition of Credits Accrued in University Internships).
