Infinitesimals: how to view them and to insert them in a number system,
Superstructures and non standard superstructures,
Standard, internal and external sets,
How to deal with the main notions of classical mathematical analysis in a non standard environment,
Beyond classical mathematical analysis: Loeb measure and some of its applications.
Examination Methods
Participating seminar. Students will be guided in the personal study of the relevant literature and will be asked to present what they learned in seminars. They will be evaluated according to their presentations and through a final short oral exam.
