Academic calendar

The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

AGR/09 - AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY AND MECHANIZATION

II semestre dal Mar 1, 2012 al Jun 15, 2012.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and skills related to mechanization of the most important growing operations and main elements to run mechanization in wine growing.

Program

Course program
Unit 1 (12 hours )
Main features of specialized tractors for wine growing, microcaterpillars and polifunctional looms. Engine, gear box, plant, power take off, stability, dynamic balance.

Unit 2 (16 hours)
- Vineyard settlement, round preparation, transplanters, pole drivers and typologies different settlement tools.
- Running ground: machinery for working interrow and underrrow, grass, fertilizers and running of tree bush pruning.
- Grape crop running: hand and easy pruning, dry pruner, trimmers, tipping machines, linking of buds/shoots, leaf removers.
- Pesticide distributions: machines for pesticide treatments, atomizers, dusters, antidryfting spayers.
- Crop: mechanic easier and grape harvester. Grape means of transport.
Unit 3 (8 hours)
Selection criteria and usage machinery: work times and capability, useful periods, demandable surface, operations costs. Notes on precision wine growing.
Unit 4 (12 hours)
Practical exercises and exhausting exercises on the most important topics and themes dealt with the units, audiovisual aids and projections with guided visit to farms producing machinery for vineyards and wine growing.

Attendance modes and venues

As stated in the Didactic Regulations, attendance is compulsory for practical and laboratory exercises (see courses with laboratory in the annex), unless otherwise stipulated by the teaching board.

Attendance at lectures is strongly recommended.

The course's teaching activities take place in Villa Lebrecht and Villa Eugenia, located in the San Floriano di Valpolicella campus, and may also take place in the other spaces of the Science and Engineering area, which is composed of the buildings of Ca‘ Vignal 1, Ca’ Vignal 2, Ca' Vignal 3 and Piramide, located in the Borgo Roma campus,
Lectures are held in the classrooms of Villa Lebrecht while practical exercises are carried out in the teaching laboratories dedicated to the various activities.
