PROGRAMME of the ACADEMIC YEAR 2015--2016
Ambito disciplinare: Discipline storiche
Settore scientifico-disciplinare: M-STO/ 01
Tipologia dell’attività formativa: base
Formative goals:
a) the knowledge of the history of Europe in the Middle ages;
b) competence in the interpretation and in the analysis of the historical settings in which the students live;
c) in the meantime students are directed to improve the methods of historical research guided by the teacher, through the study-case of
These goals are pursued:
a) with the study of the book: Breve storia dell’Europa medievale, Bologna, Pàtron, 2012, partially explained during the course.
b) MAIN COURSE:
Mathilda of Tuscany: her mith through the centuries
to prepare with notes from the lessons, and the study of the medieval sources (also iconographic) introduced to the students during lessons, and available from the teacher.
In addition the students have to read:
P. Golinelli, L’ancella di san Pietro. Matilde di Canossa e la Chiesa, Milano, Jaca Book, 2015
For those who cannot attend lessons is required the reading of:
Matilde di Canossa nelle culture europee del secondo Millennio. Dalla storia al mito. Atti del convegno internazionale di studi, Reggio Emilia, Canossa, Quattro Castella, 25-27 settembre 1997, Bologna, Pàtron, 1999.
