Learning outcomes
The course aims at transfer the basic knowledge for the application of fermentative processes in continuous and discontinuous bioreactors including their facilities/utilities (aeration, mixing, process control)
Program
The course programme is based on the following macro-blocks
1. Pre-requisites (definitions)
2. Mass and energy balances in transient and steady state conditions
3. Transport phenomens for mass, energy and momentum
4. Reaction order and kinetics, biological reactions
5. Bioreactors : continuos, discontinuous and hybrid reactors
6. Utilities for bioreactors: mixing, aeration, temperature and pH control
