Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing the tools for a critical analysis of the dramatic text and of its specific features, in the light of its performative destination and of its relationship with other literary genres.

Program

The course aims at verifying the presence and analysing the characteristics of the fantastic mode, and expecially its uncanny features, in European late modern and contemporary theatre. The peculiarity of the fantastic mode in modern drama will be demonstrated through the comparison with fantastic literature and its theories.

Examination Methods

Oral examination.
The exam will verify the students' knowledge of the main features of the nouveau théatre, both in a general theoretical perspective and through the analysis of the plays listed in the bibliography.
