Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide the conceptual, methodological and cultural basis needed to analyze and interpret the genesis and modification of Welfare systems, with particular reference to crisis factors affecting social policies. The professional educator operates within public and private care systems that need to be analyzed in their genetic and change factors in order to understand the educational realities in which this figure works.The general aim of the course is also to help critically read the role played by the professional social service in the Italian Welfare System at its central and peripheral levels, and to increase the knowledge and skills of students in reading the relationships between the various public sectors Welfare (health, social security, social welfare) and between the public and private sector (association and cooperativeism).The specific goal of the course is to show future professional educators the dynamics of the development of the Welfare Public Services system and the related constraints on educational action.
Program
The program is centered on the following points:
1. The origin and development of Welfare public systems: social factors and dynamics and sociological interpretations;
2. The crisis of public welfare systems: social factors and dynamics.
2a. the transition from Keynesian capitalism to the new liberal capitalism and consequences on social policies;
2b. the crisis of social policies is also a crisis of the legitimacy of democratic systems. .
3. From Solidarity and Public Inclusion to Penal Control.
4. Towards New Welfare System Configurations?

Examination Methods
The assessment of the learning outcomes will be:
- written assessment of the acquired knowledge.
The written test is intended to ascertain the knowledge of the topics under discussion and the ability to read critically the evolutionary dynamics of Welfare systems.
Content and method of carrying out the assessment tests
Written exam questions may cover all the topics discussed in the course. There will be 3 open questions related to the three topics of social policy discussed in the course. Also the material presented during the lessons (slide, any scientific articles) will be evaluated:
1. Question about the first text of social policy ("Le politiche di Welfare", il Mulino, Bologna).
2. Question about the immigration problem.
3. S question about the contents discussed during the lessons
Each of the 3 questions will be assigned a score ranging from 0 to 10 points, for a total of 30 / 30 in case of all correct answers.
ERASMUS students are asked to contact the teacher at the beginning of the courses to agree on the teaching and examination procedures together.

Stage e Tirocini
Le ulteriori attività formative (crediti F) sono interamente coperte dall’attività di tirocinio “indiretto” (1 cfu) da svolgersi nel secondo anno e di tirocinio “diretto” (14 cfu) da svolgersi presso enti convenzionati per un numero complessivo di 15 cfu (375 ore). Chi è iscritta/o al curriculum servizi per l’infanzia è tenuta/o a svolgere il tirocinio presso nidi e servizi per la prima infanzia per almeno il 50% delle ore.Il tirocinio professionalizzante (375 ore, pari a 15 cfu), è obbligatorio sia nella sua forma diretta che indiretta.
Il tirocinio indiretto, della durata di 25 ore a frequenza obbligatoria al 75%, si svolge in Università per 20 ore e in forma di lavoro individuale per 5 ore e consiste in un accompagnamento iniziale delle/degli studenti da parte dei tutor attraverso un percorso formativo dotandoli di conoscenze e strumenti adeguati a osservare, comprendere e rielaborare criticamente l’esperienza di tirocinio nei servizi educativi e ad affrontare il tirocinio negli enti con metodo e consapevolezza. Il percorso, da attuare in gruppi da 20-25 persone sotto la supervisione di un tutor, risponde alle esigenze costantemente espresse sia dalle/dagli studenti stessi sia dalle parti sociali che dai referenti degli enti convenzionati.
Il tirocinio diretto si propone di raggiungere i seguenti obiettivi:
- fare esperienza diretta di attività professionali, che richiedono un livello di preparazione al lavoro educativo;
- approfondire in particolare il rapporto tra preparazione teorica, acquisita mediante lo studio, ed esperienza pratica, tra mondo del sapere e della cultura e mondo del lavoro e delle professioni;
