Learning outcomes

The course intends to deliver the conceptual, methodological and cultural bases necessary in order to analyse and interpret as well the aesthetic thematics in a straight sense (sensory perception and knowledge) and the art works in a wider sense. The course also aims at understanding conceptual structures necessary to develop a precise and adequate use of philosophical language; thus, it intends to make students acquire the competences to get a critical and autonomous judgement on the course topics and to express it adequately.

1. The knowledge of the main concepts of Aesthetics in their connection to Pedagogy and Education, and how the aesthetic experience and the experience of truth attained from works of art can be declined in educational contexts.
2. The understanding of philosophical implications present in percepting and creating works of art, for whose full understanding a philosophical reflection is necessary.
3. The understanding of the philosophical dimension inscribed in the experience of beauty and the development of the educational potentiality of art.

Program

Coloring the World: Testing the aesthetical Meaning of Colors

The program of the course will be organized around the theme of color and philosophical reflection on it. It will be a matter of understanding how thought has been confronted with the concept of color, with its experiential, aesthetical, philosophical and scientific declinations. It will be analyzed the relationship between education and color, its effects and its meanings. We will analyze works of art through which we can visualize the way in which the pictorial practice and philosophical reflection on it has developed the experience of a "colorful" world.
I. A first section of the itinerary provides a succinct introduction to the fundamental questions of philosophy pertinent to the pedagogical context.
II. A second section will propose a brief historical-analytical path on the issues of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art, to allow students to become familiar with some fundamental concepts of the discipline.
III. A third section will analyze, more specifically, the theme of color in its artistic and philosophical contexts, emphasizing the essential relationship with education.
IV. Space will be given to mutual dialogue and to the collective discussion of the proposed themes, encouraging students to participate actively in the discussion.
