Learning outcomes
This course aims giving students the conceptual, methodological and cultural basis in order to understand the main topics of the European civilization in the medieval period.
Students will be asked to reflect how the study of the Middle Ages can help us in interpreting and understanding our present time through specific methodological skills.
Students will develop a knowledge of the Medieval History that, through a multidimensional perspective, will deepen their ability in understanding contemporary societies; they will also strengthen their analysis abilities in their educational planning practices.
Interpreting and understanding our present time through the study of the Middle Ages will help students to develop an autonomous critical comprehension of scientific books through methodological specific competences through a study of orginal medieval sources.
Program
This workshop offers deepens student's kwoledge of the Middle Ages though the sudy of a spcific topic and seminars. During this workshop students will have the opportunity of better know the outstanding figure of Charlemagne that will be shortly taken into exam, starting with the analysis of the book in the program (see the program of Medieval History Lectures).
The deeds of the emperor and Carolingian Europe, with a special attention to North and Central Italy, will be studied during the workshop that will further develop some aspects already discussed during lectures. The Veronese context will also be analysed through the study of some original sources that will be introduced, commented and translated by the lecturer.
These last lectures will be followed by two didactical excursions (ARCHIVIO DI STATO E BIBLIOTECHA CAPITOLARE) to which students are asked to take part, being tpart of this workshop.

Examination Methods
The workshop will count 1 CFU. Students are asked to attend to at least 9 hours in order to obtian the credit.
