Learning outcomes
The Course is build on the experience of the study Health4LGBTI funded by the European Commission (DG HEALTH) and conducted by the proposer in collaboration with the AOUI. The main aim of the Course is to train future medical doctors and build their capacity and expertise in overcoming barriers to care provision for LGBTI people and in doing so, help contribute to reducing health inequalities. The program consists of alternating sections of the training developed by the European project Health4LGBTI and meetings with experts.
Program
The program consists of 8 lessons, experts on the topic will be invited for some lesson:
1. Who are LGBTI people (Terminology and concepts)
2. The accessibility of LGBTI people in healthcare: communication, good practices
3. The transition path: TOS - Hormonal Replacement Treatment and
4. The transition path: surgical interventions
5. Transition and inequality: Psychological and psychosocial aspects in LGBTI people and in the transition path
6. Health inequalities, barriers and access to care for LGBTI people
7. Management in the field of infectious diseases, psychological and infectious aspects in LGBTI people
8. Legal aspects of the transition and ethical issues for trans and intersex people
