Fundamentals of research in rehabilitation medicine (2021/2022)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
The course aims to increase the knowledge and insights about the different types of experimental design and guidelines available in rehabilitation and tools to assess quantitative and qualitative research in rehabilitation critically. Part of the teaching materials will be in English. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS IN CLINICAL PRACTICE At the end of the course, the student must (1) know the existing experimental design in the rehabilitation research and their implementation guidelines; (2) critically review the literature about methodological issues such as the experimental design. ADVANCED METHODOLOGIES IN SPECIALIST REHABILITATION ASSESSMENT At the end of the course, the student must (1) know the psychometric properties of the clinical assessment tools; (2) critically evaluate the properties of quantitative and qualitative tools for evaluation procedures in rehabilitation; (3) transfer the evidence available on assessment tools to professional practice. EVIDENCE-BASED REHABILITATION (EBM) At the end of the course, the student must (1) understand the principles of the EBM methodology; (2) know how to utilize the tools needed to gather scientific evidence, particularly those for research and evaluation of evidence; (3) discuss the application of research results in clinical practice.
