Learning outcomes

The workshop aims to give students the basic knowledge about theatre to comprehend and analyze the live performance as well as critic writings, so to lead them to gain the skills to write a review.

Program

The class is divided in theoretical lessons and moments of collective discussion and comparison, before and after the viewing of performances of different nature and the reading of reviews.
1. Introduction to theatre with a description of the various elements that participate to the performance, the theatrical spaces and the communication between scene and audience.
2. Analysis and comprehension of the event through the videos of some performances and the collective comparison. Evaluation of the necessary knowledge needed to the review writing.
3. Reading and analysis of some reviews to understand their structure and evaluate their effectiveness.
4. Writing of the reviews of two performances and collective analysis of the writings.

The workshop is limited up to 30 students.

Examination Methods

To guarantee the foreseen credits, presence at the lessons is required, as well as the writing of two reviews.
As a support of the learning, some essays and reviews will be given to the students during the class.
