Learning objectives

The course aims to develop students' skills in comprehension and production, both written and oral, of scientific texts. Particular attention will be given to the lexical, syntactic, phonological and pragmatic aspects of medical English.

The course provides for the acquisition of the fundamental grammatical, lexical and syntactic functions of the English Language, alongside the scientific terminology relevant to its professional practice for dialogue with the patient, for nursing knowledge and for scientific literature

Didactic methods

Lectures, in-depth videos to support the study of the monographic material and the preparation of the academic lexicon. The frontal lessons provide all the tools for the analysis and discussion of written and oral texts on the main study areas of medical-scientific and academic English, as well as the foundations for mastering linguistic-communicative and pragmatic-linguistic skills necessary to understand and produce texts in the language.

Learning assessment procedures

Students' abilities assessment will be measured through a written exam aimed at verifying the knowledge of all the didactic module.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Validation of linguistic, academic and communication skills
