What are basic knowledge
To enroll in a Bachelor's degree program, it is important to possess some basic knowledge. The purpose of the knowledge assessment is to ensure that students have no significant gap of knowledge in particular subjects. The assessment may coincide with the entrance examination (for admission-controlled programmes) or be conducted through different methods during the first year.
If the assessment reveals gaps in one or more topics, it is still possible to enroll; however, certain supplementary activities, called Additional Educational Obligations (OFA), must be completed within the first academic year to be able to enroll in the second year.
To assist students in addressing the OFA, each degree program offers specific training activities.

To assist students in addressing the OFA, each degree program offers specific training activities. Basic Subject Requirements For the proposed study path, basic knowledge in mathematical and physical sciences and logical reasoning skills are required.
Specifically:
Sets and functions, numerical and algebraic calculations.
Methods for solving linear and quadratic equations and inequalities (and systems of equations and inequalities).
Geometric properties of the main flat and solid figures and their elementary properties.
Cartesian representation of geometric elements. Basic concepts of trigonometry. Functions, graphs, relations. Power, root, and absolute value functions.
Exponential and logarithmic functions and their graphs. Trigonometric functions and their graphs. Solving simple equations and inequalities constructed with these functions.
Representing data, relations, and functions with formulas, tables, bar charts, and other graphical methods.
Laws of motion, mass, force, weight, and momentum. Laws of energy conservation and gravity.
Principles of waves and sound.
Principles of electricity, magnetism, and electromagnetism.
Moderate complexity logical deductions and logical implications between elementary statements.
In addition, students are required to have effective communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to accurately interpret the meaning of a text.
the meaning of a text.
Methods and dates of verification
The assessment of initial preparation is passed if the following minimum scores are achieved by taking the TOLC-I:
At least 8 points in Mathematics
At least 4 points in Science
At least 2 points in Logic
At least 2 points in Verbal Comprehension
As an alternative to the TOLC-I, it is possible to take the TOLC-S under the same conditions described for the TOLC-I.
If the above minimum scores are not achieved in the TOLC-I or TOLC-S, students will be assigned OFA as follows: Mathematics OFA in case of a score lower than 8 obtained in Mathematics questions (TOLC-I)/Basic Mathematics (TOLC-S).
Physics OFA in case of a score lower than 4 obtained in Science questions (TOLC-I)/Basic Science (TOLC-S).
Both Mathematics OFA and Physics OFA in case of a score lower than 2 obtained in Logic questions (TOLC-I)/Reasoning and Problems (TOLC-S).
Both Mathematics OFA and Physics OFA in case of a score lower than 2 is obtained in Verbal Comprehension questions (TOLC-I)/Text Comprehension (TOLC-S).
The assigned educational obligations must be fulfilled within the first year.
These obligations are considered fulfilled after attending the supplementary courses organized by the Department of Science and Engineering and passing the related final verification exams.
For further information regarding additional educational obligations (OFA), please carefully read the dedicated page.
