Learning objectives

The course aims at leading students to know in detail the history of the English language; attention will also be dedicated to the linguistic analysis of Old English, Middle English and Early Modern English texts. By the end of the course students will be aware of the diversified factors affecting the development of the English language and will be able to understand and analyze texts from its different historical periods.
