Causation in epidemiology.
Opportunities and limits of epidemiological studies.
Use of epidemiological studies in the identification of risk factors and causal factors of infectious and chronic non-communicable diseases.
Role of epidemiology in the decision-making process for the planning, programming and monitoring of interventions to improve the health of the population and community, also in reference to Ministerial Decree 77/2022.

The exam is oral.
The candidate is offered an indicator that measures health phenomena.
The indicator is selected from the health activity monitoring systems (Piano Nazionale Esiti – PNE, MeS Sant'Anna).
The candidate is asked to comment on the indicator and make etiological hypotheses.
The candidate is also asked to propose investigation methods that he deems suitable for testing the etiological hypothesis using the tools for defining the causal link in epidemiology.
Evaluation criteria
The vote is out of thirty. The minimum acceptable threshold is 18/30mi. There are three questions relating to the topics covered in class which the candidate will also have to answer, orienting the answer in light of their professional experience. The following also contribute to the evaluation: active and constructive participation in the classroom discussion of cases
