Learning outcomes
The workshop aims at providing the students with the appropriate methodological tools to be competent Opera spectators, through their participation at different phases of rehearsals of some productions of Fondazione Arena, introduced by some lessons of theoretical and historical framing.
Program
The workshop is divided in a theoretical part, which aims at giving the basic elements of analysis of an operatic performance to the students; and in a practical part, during which the students will attend some phases of the production of three operas at Teatro Filarmonico (Il matrimonio segreto, L'elisir d'amore, Madama Butterfly). The workshop includes also some meetings with directors, conductors, set designers.

Felice Romani | L'elisir d'amore (libretto) | ||||
Luigi Illica, Giuseppe Giacosa | Madama Butterfly (libretto) |
Examination Methods
The students will write a short essay (from 7000 to 10000 characters including spaces) in which they will compare two different productions of the same opera (one of them must be the Filarmonico production, the rehearsals of which they have attended).
