Learning outcomes
Conoscenza del lessico e della sintassi del lessico architettonico classico conoscenza dell'opera dei protagonisti dell'architettura dei secolo XVIII e XIX saper comparare architetture antiche classiche con soluzioni neoclassiche.
Program
The course will deal with the history of modern architecture in its main directions. During the lectures the critical confrontation between the architectural production and the theoretical reflection, and the comparison with the socio-political, economic and cultural context will be deepened. The theoretical, design and historiographical issues relating to the most significant episodes of architecture between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries will be treated according to these thematic nodes:
- The protagonists of the fifteenth century and the main centers of elaboration of the classicist language: Florence, Roma, Rimini, Mantova, Urbino, Milano.
- The first half of the sixteenth century: the Roman school, the Florentine school and Venezia
- The second half of the sixteenth century: the spread of the Renaissance in Europe; the cities in the Renaissance.
- Architecture and baroque city in Europe in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries

Examination Methods
The goal of the exam is to verify the knowledge of the topics addressed in the lectures and the bibliography. Exam Syllabus: The student will have to demonstrate to know critically the contents of the course and to be able to analyze architectural artifacts and their language knowing how to contextualize them in their time, in the work of the architect and in the framework of the overall development of the history of architecture.
Test procedure: the exam will be an oral test and will take place with constant reference to the images shown by the teacher.
The test will be unique and the evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths.
