Learning objectives
"Objectives: learn to plan and organize motor activity for children from 6 to 12 years old. The fundamental principles of learning and motor development will be analyzed, as well as the methodological / didactic approach to the various movement situations related to the age group considered. Furthermore, attention will be paid to the analysis of the contents of the activity through the construction of didactic paths and teaching units and the simulation of cases. Students will acquire: The psychophysical characteristics of boys / girls and boys / girls aged 6 - 12; Purposes, objectives and skills related to motor activities in this phase of developmental age; The peculiarities of teaching motor activities in this age; The contents related to the training of motor skills and physical abilities in motor education between 6 and 12 years. Students will be able to: Assess motor activities, motor skills and attitudes towards motor activity for subjects from 6 to 12 years; Organize motor activities for 6 - 12 years old; Design didactic sequences related to specific objectives / competences; Plan lessons / training segments with 6 - 12 years old boys and girls."
Prerequisites and basic notions
Fundamentals of motor control and learning (Course "Introduction to movement analysis and motor control")
Fundamentals of physical training (Course "Training Methodology")
Program
Theoretical lectures (Prof. Bertucco):
- Definition of motor development
- Models of motor development
- Sensory-motor and psychophysical development in developmental age (6-14 years);
- Development of fundamental motor skills
Practical lessons-exercises (Prof. Biino)
MODULE 1
Motor activity for learning fundamental motor skills: locomotor movements such as Running, Hopping, Galloping, Sliding, Skipping, Leaping, Jumping and basic manipulative skills: Underhand rolling, Overhead throwing, Underhand throwing, Bouncing, Catching, Striking, Kicking.
Critical element; activities for reinforcing and assessing the critical elements of skill; activities to reinforce the entire skill.
MODULE 2
Motor activity for gross motor development: rolling (transverse plane, frontal plane), crawling, climbing with the use of mobile, semi-mobile and fixed equipment.
Motor activities and games for building of dexterity: body dexterity and dexterity hand or object dexterity.
MODULE 3
Teaching fundamental motor skills with motor games.
Games that promote the transfer of learning: the analogical classification of games. Ability transmission by similarity or generalization. Core-based motor teaching-learning.
Activation games without the use of equipment, with the use of small and large equipment.
Final Hight motivation games: Performance games, Group games; Team games, collaborative games; deliberate games.

Learning assessment procedures
To access the final exam, 70% attendance at the exercises is mandatory.
The final exam will consist of a written test consisting of multiple choice and open-ended questions.
Evaluation criteria
The merit assessment is divided into two parts:
the first involves a multiple choice questionnaire of 20 items. The test is considered passed by obtaining at least 50%+1 of the available points. The second part of the exam consists of 2 open-ended questions relating to the planning of an educational intervention on an assigned topic which will be evaluated out of thirty based on the relevance and completeness of the fundamental elements. Passing the first test (multiple choice questionnaire) is a necessary requirement to also have an evaluation of the second part.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
The overall assessment will be formulated by attributing 40% of the overall score to the result of the multiple-choice test, while 60% will be attributed to the result of the two open-ended tests.
Academic Honesty Policy:
Given the professional nature of our program academic dishonesty is not tolerated in this course. Any substantiated instances of academic dishonest will result in a zero for the assignments (projects and/or final exam) and consequently a final course grade of 0/30.
