Learning outcomes

The course with provide an introduction to the history of the discipline and the anthropological tools for analyzing and understanding cultural diversity. The course will discuss stereotypes and suggest ways of interpreting our own and others’social behaviour and attitudes, by placing them in context. Particular themes will be the relationship between language and everyday experience especially in educational situations and students will engage in exercises in observation and ethnographic description

Examination Methods

The first half of the course will be followed by a written test for The exam will consist in a written essay which will be discussed with the lecturer.. Non attenders will have to pass the written test and an oral exam.
