Learning outcomes

What does "doing research" in educational settings mean?
How is it possible to build knowledge starting from educational practices?

The course aims at promoting awareness and competences about the logic and practice of qualitative research within educational contexts, analyzing its resources and exploring the basic epistemological orientations.

Program

The course deals with the following contents:
- Qualitative research and its epistemological frameworks.
- The research design, its components, and the construction or a research process.
- The main qualitative research methods in education, their potential and limits.
- The interview as a possible investigative tool: assumptions, technique, possible uses in the field of education.

The programme will include a handbook on qualitative research in educational settings and a book on mosaic approach. In addition, three articles will be available in the moodle platform. The two books and the three articles are required for the final examination.
