Learning outcomes
The goal of the course is to foster reflection on the essential issues that educators have to face in educational practice, starting form the analysis of a concept that is central to the construction of the educational discourse: the concept of care. Through the reconstruction of a phenomenological inquiry of this topic, we will identify ways of acting that characterize a good educational practice.
The course also aims to foster the acquisition of conceptual and procedural knowledge needed to build educational research for children.
Program
The course is organized in two levels: theoretical reflection on educational practice and empirical research:
(a) theoretical research
The practice of care plays a central role in educational services. Through a phenomenological analysis, we will identify the basic qualities of such practice and then outline useful behaviors for those who carry out educational work,
(b) empirical research
We will discuss the topic of research with children and explicate research methods and techniques and ethical issues in the research with children; in order to foster understanding of the epistemic issues involved, examples of research will be presented and discussed.
