Program

The course aims to provide the basic knowledge relating to the methodologies of film and television criticism in general terms. In particular, some of the most important paths of Italian criticism from the silent to the present day, from print to the web, will be illustrated. We will also analyze some emblematic models relating to as many exponents of daily and specialist criticism. The course aims to offer students historical, methodological and practical tools to analyze the different forms of film criticism. In a first module, the main methodological models of film criticism will be addressed, in particular by deepening the activity of Italian and foreign critics. The second part will focus on the different forms of critical activity in Italy, from its origins to the present day. The path will be divided into detailed historical segments: from the silent years to those of fascism and from the long post-war period to the experience of the web, between professionalism and spontaneous practices. There are also thematic in-depth meetings animated by professionals and scholars who will enrich the training course. In addition, individual critical case studies related to films will be taken into consideration, the titles of which will be communicated at the beginning of the course and accompanied by targeted handouts provided by the teacher.

- 2. Written paper (thesis). A written paper (thesis) may be submitted upon agreement with the teacher. Attention: the latter is intended as an alternative to the written exam.
- The written papers and the term papers will be written in Italian.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE
