After a rapid overview on the surgical anatomy of the chest, mediastinum and related organs/systems, the main surgical diseases of the chest will be explained. The following items will be analyzed during the course:
1. Surgical anatomy of the chest
2. Lung cancer
3. Pleural diseases
4. Mediastinal syndromes
5. Lung transplant
6. Trauma

Didactic methods
Lectures, powerpoint documentation; web recording of lessons. Lessons can be recovered via DAD, with lessons uploaded on the Intranet site; the teacher is available - by appointment - for any clarification relating to students who have had to perform DAD due to major force.
Learning assessment procedures
It is the aim of the exam to evaluate the theoretical skill and knowledge in Thoracic Surgery, in view of a wider environment, related to the entire set of disciplines belonging to the Integrated Course of Systematic Pathology II.
Students will undergo an oral exam, provided by all Professors belonging to the Integrated Course, who will deliver questions on all topics treated during the Course itself and/or available on the Institutional Website.
Final graduation will be expressed in XX/30, considering the individual scores expressed by those Professors constituting the Exam Commission
Evaluation criteria
The degree of knowledge and learning of the various surgical pathologies of thoracic interest will be considered in the final evaluation
