Learning objectives
To acquire general knowledge on cultural, historical, scientific and normative evolution of the psychiatric care. General knowledge of the classification of mental disorders, of the ethio-pathogenetic models and of the prognosis. To acquire ability to place diagnoses and/or differential diagnostic hypotheses. Deepened knowledge of the evidence based psychopharmacology, with particular attention to the criteria to choose drugs, formulation of the treatment, maintenance therapy, short and long term adverse effects, toxicity from over-dosage, drugs interactions. General knowledge of the legislative and organizational aspects in psychiatry.

Didactic methods
The course will be delivered with 22 face-to-face lectures consisting of the systematic treatment of the topics on the syllabus and 8 e-learning lectures for more in-depth study. In addition, ample space will be given to interactive discussion centred on clinical cases, teaching materials, and field experiences.
Learning assessment procedures
The examination is conducted orally and in attendance, except for major covid-related issues or other situations that prevent attendance with a physician's report
Evaluation criteria
Oral examination with evaluation of the candidate's preparation on major mental disorders, their recognition and treatment
