Research Methods for Evidence-Based Practice (2017/2018)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
The course provides knowledge and methods to:
- analyze the research process (qualitative-quantitative approaches) and the main study designs
- develop a research protocol
- understand the evidence based practice approach and its influence on the decision-making process in nursing/midwifery clinical practice
- define an answerable clinical research question
- efficiently search for evidence on the most important databases
- develop the skills necessary to critically appraise or assess the validity and the generalizalibilty of a research article or a clinical practice guideline
- apply evidence into nursing practice
The course consists into the following modules:
- research methodology
- evidence based nursing
- evidence based midwifery
for a total of 5 ECTS credits.

Examination Methods
The final examination will consist of multiple choice and open questions to assess students' understanding of the EBP and research concepts covered in the course and their ability to apply critical appraisal skills to the assessment and interpretation of clinical evidence.
