Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing the students with the abilities for scientific reading comprehension and writing. During the course students will analyse scientific articles concerning the nursing professional practice.

Program

This section completes the course of English Language Year 1 and it is created in order to practice English for Medical and Academic Purposes.

Specifically, the focus is on the following topics:

1) The field of English for Medical Purposes and its characteristics
2) Healthcare personnel, National Health Systems, the Hospital and their interactions
3) Scientific Research: research steps and draft of a scientific article
4) The scientific style and the mistakes to avoid
5) Text analysis and a few guidelines

Examination Methods

Students' abilities assessment will be measured through a written exam aimed at verifying the knowledge of all the didactic module and precisely the reading comprehension and critical analysis of a scientific article.
