Learning outcomes

The course aims to face the theoretical and methodological aspects related to the communication and relationship building processes in healthcare. The acquisition of these abilities and skills will enable nurses to increase therapeutic alliance, patients’ satisfaction and their quality of life.

Specifically, the course objectives include:
• The acquisition of systematic and updated knowledge on biopsychosociological, cognitive and emotional processes.
• The acquisition of systematic and updated knowledge on communication and relationship building in healthcare.
• Appropriate knowledge of psychological investigation methods and tools.
• Interdisciplinary knowledge related to communication in healthcare.
• Psychological skills oriented to provide support to individuals, groups and communities.
• Acquiring the ability to critically analyze clinical interventions and the existing literature on the topic.

Examination Methods

Assessment of learning will take place through a written test composed by multiple-choice questions.
Students are asked to demonstrate to understand the relevant elements that underpin theory and intervention in clinical psychology.

Students are strongly recommended to study the material provided by the teacher during the lessons and also available on e-learning pages.
