•The critical area and the critical patient: definitions of critical/intensive patient, urgency/emergency, intensive care, peculiarities in care •Monitoring and management of respiratory function: definition of acute respiratory failure and main causes, main indications for ventilation mechanics, advantages and disadvantages of invasive and non-invasive ventilation, devices used in invasive and non-invasive ventilation, care interventions for the intubated/tracheostomized/non-invasive ventilated patient • Hemodynamic monitoring: definition of heart failure, cardio-circulatory failure, shock and causes main, main indications for invasive hemodynamic monitoring, invasive monitoring of blood pressure, monitoring of central venous pressure, relating complex intravenous pharmacological treatments to the patient's clinical situation, identifying and describing expected effects and adverse effects of complex intravenous treatments, calculation exercises on the main drugs used in critical areas • Monitoring of neurological function: indicators for evaluating neurological function • Nutritional approach to critically ill patients: assessment of nutritional status, nutrition management and possible complications • Hygiene and mobilization of critically ill patients and prevention of infections: hemodynamic changes, oral hygiene, eye care •Treatment of pressure injuries due to immobilization and devices •Impact of staying in intensive care, rest/sleep and ways to promote patient adaptation and family needs

Learning assessment procedures
Written exam with multiple choice questions, carried out simultaneously for all teaching modules. The test time is 70 minutes in total.
Evaluation criteria
There are 48 questions in total. The exam will be passed if 3/8 questions are correct for each subject. The total passing lap is 31/48. The student can withdraw or refuse the proposed grade and repeat the entire exam at a subsequent exam.
