Learning outcomes

The teaching introduces the student to a global vision of the people's psychological development. In this context, it will be considered internal and external factors which interact and influence this development and the understanding of the needs, which are expressed in the health care, considering the different development' steps, skills and adjustment.

Program

- Introduction to Psychology. General Psychology and Clinical Psychology. Theoretical Models.
- Main functions of the mind: memory, thought, perception, language, motivation and emotions. Psychological and psychopathological processes.
- Health Psychology: preventive behavior and disease behavior
- Concept of stress, coping, mechanisms of defence and psychological adjustment
- Developmental Psychology: stages of cognitive and emotional development in childhood, meaning of the disease and emotional reactions of the child and his family. Implications for the health care
- Developmental Psychology: adolescence and its main developmental tasks, meaning of the disease and emotional reactions of the teenager and his family. Implications for the health care
- Developmental Psychology: the third age and its main areas of change and adjustment, psychology and psychopathology of the old age. Implications for the health care.
- Death and Bereavement. Pattern and Models.
