- philosophy and principles of palliative care, law no. 38
- difference between to cure and to care
- Identification of the palliative patient
- meaning of quality of life, Calman´s gap
- recognize and treat the main symptoms of palliative care: total pain and pain, dyspnoea, asthenia, gastrointestinal disorders (xerostomia, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, intestinal occlusion), itch, terminal symptoms (near-death agitation, rattle, marbling, central fever)
- family members / caregivers: recognizing their needs, family centered care, family conference, bereavement management
- some ethical aspects: palliative sedation, nutrition / hydration, therapeutic persistence and advanced treatment directive
- Educational approach for the patient with chronic liver cirrhosis: altered biochemical values, main symptoms (ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, portal hypertension), main complications (variceal bleeding, acute mental confusion or hepatic encephalopathy coma, weight gain with anuria)

The student may enroll for one block, two blocks or all three (A-B-C).
To pass the block, all Modules must be positive (partial block is not retained) .
The positive block is maintained until the 5th Appeal.
The student may register for the negative/unsuccessful block up to the 5th Appeal. After the 5th appeal all the partial evaluations are cleared.
Evaluation criteria
Final outcome: total sum of the outcomes of the 5 Modules of the medical disciplines divided by 5 + outcomes of the Modules of the nursing disciplines, all divided by two. Final assessment corresponding to the weighting of 50%
