Program

Tumor biology
Epidemiology, incidence, mortality, prevalence
Risk factors
Primary, secondary, tertiary prevention
Management of patients with cancer: general concepts
Goals of tumor therapy
Tumor therapy: surgery, radiotherapy, medical therapy
Medical therapy of tumors: chemotherapy, hormone therapy, molecular targeted therapy, immunotherapy
Focus on the side effects of medical therapy (cardiovascular, endocrinological, hematological, gastrointestinal, metabolic, neurological, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, fatigue)
- definition and epidemiology; presentation of the problem and consequences; evidence on rehabilitation interventions with focus on lymphedema/neuropathy/pulmonary toxicities/fatigue/arthralgias/musculoskeletal complications.

Didactic methods

The teacher will use: a) frontal lessons; b) discussion of clinical cases; c) stimulus questions.

Learning assessment procedures

Written exam (multiple choice quiz) + analysis and management of a clinical case - duration of approximately 1 hour.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Acquisition of basic knowledge relating to the topics covered by the educational program and acquisition of clinical reasoning skills in the oncology field - grade out of thirty.
