Learning objectives
Acquire language skills that are needed to communicate with patients and practitioners when it’s necessary, to read and to understand the content of scientific research about professional scientific topics.
Prerequisites and basic notions
English language proficiency at B1+ (CEFR)
Desire to develop your 'voice' in English as a lingua franca
Program
- acquire specific vocabulary useful for understanding scientific articles and oral presentations
- develop communication skills comprising appropriate phraseology for the management of the clinical practice
- practise reading and listening comprehension of written and presented scientific texts about physiotherapy
Bibliography
Didactic methods
The course is taught in English. A task-based approach aims to pursue intercultural communicative competence in the specific field of physiotherapy. Lesson contents encompass specific lexical acquisition, reading and listening comprehension of authentic material and case-study group work.

Evaluation criteria
- Perform tasks using English as a lingua franca at B1+ level
- Demonstrate the acquisition of course material shared in the course virtual learning platform
- Engage in public speaking skills
- Create oral, written and visual texts in English demonstrating citation and references management ethics
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
All assessment criteria mentioned above must be met to pass the exam. The exam does not provide for the assignment of a numerical grade, but rather a "pass/fail" rating
