Learning outcomes
This module aims to provide students with the fundamental notions aimed at understanding and recognizing the main disorders in internal medicine, with particular reference to their pathophysiological bases, clinical manifestations (physical examination and symptoms), diagnostic investigations, quality of life and survival repercussions, and treatment approach.
Program
The module will mainly address the following disorders:
- cardiovascular diseases: acute and chronic heart failure, ischemic heart disease
- respiratory diseases: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and pneumonia
- hematological disorders: acute and chronic anemia, multiple myeloma
- renal disorders: acute and chronic renal failure
- gastro-intestinal disorders: liver cirrhosis, intestinal inflammatory diseases
- endocrinological disorders: diabetes and thyroid dysfunctions
with an overview of the main classes of drugs used in these conditions.
