Learning outcomes
The aim of the class will be to lead students to know the policy framework, the categorization of technologies for rehabilitation, autonomy and educational, working and social integration for disabled persons; to became familiar with the key aspects in the process of analysis and with the proposal of orthoses and assistive technologies, especially for the various postures and for the mobility (both deambulatory and in a wheelchair; in indoor and outdoor environments); to be acquainted with the building blocks and the different typologies of prothesis; to know the main strategies for the alternative augmentative communication related to the sphere of motor and sensory disabilities and the concerning technological instruments; to develop knowledge and skills with regard to possible solutions for the mobility of a disabled person; to be aware of criteria for choosing a wheelchair and a motorized cart.
Program
-Basic concepts of assistive technology’s definition, the assistive technology and the ICF, accessibility and assistive tecnologies’ classification.
-Regulatory aspects used to support a person with disabilities.
-Assistive technologies : policy framework and current law system in Italy. The Nomenclatore Tariffario, assistive technologies and funds.
-Parameters for the individualized selection of the assistive technologies in the “Individual Rehabilitation Project”.
-The prescriptive procedure of assistive technologies: venture, evaluation, acquisition, implementation, employment, follow up and the judgment of the assistive technologies’ outcome.
-Assistive technolgies and domestic autonomy.
-Assistive technologies and integration into the workforce.
-Assistive technologies and educational integration: Alternative Augmentative Communication.
-Assistive technologies for the posture and for the mobility. Parameters used to choose the employment of a wheelchair or of a motorized cart.
-Essential parts and different types of prothesis.
-Informative portals: “SIVA” and “EASTIN”.
