Learning outcomes

Provide basic knowledge on radiation more commonly used in health care regarding the physical aspect, the effects on matter, the risks and possible damage, the precautions to be taken, the professionals involved, their functions and their obligations with particular regard to local regulations.

2 X-rays and γ, interaction with matter and biological effects.
3-dosimetry, radiation natural and artificial.
4-Radiation protection, organizations and professionals involved.
5-Radiation protection of the patient, the basics.
6-Ionizing and pregnancy.
7-Radiation protection of the public and workers.
8-Ultrasound: physical, applications, biological effects.
9-magnetic fields and radio waves: physical principles, biological effects, applications, safety standards.
10-Laser: physical principles, biological effects, applications, safety standards.

Examination Methods

Written test with oral assessment if necessary.
