Human pathology (2020/2021)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
The main purpose of the course is to provide the student with the basic Knowledge of the main mechanisms of molecular and cellular injury and the basic reactions of cells and tissues to the abnormal stimuli that underlie diseases, knowledge required for the comprehension of the bio-medical methodologies utilized in tumor biology and diagnosis, acquisition of the general knowledge of the fundamental biological mechanisms regulating the immune system functions, knowledge of the immune laboratory techniques, knowledge of the mechanisms responsible for the main alterations of the homeostatic systems, functional consequences on various organs and systems, describe the compensation mechanisms that are activated as a result of these changes and how they may themselves be the pathophysiological mechanisms of disease. The course shall introduce evidences that pathology represents the basis for most of the laboratory test used for the diagnosis of human diseases. MODULO FISIOPATOLOGIA GENERALE Aim of the course is to describe the pathophysiological mechanisms responsible for the main alterations of the homeostatic systems, functional consequences on various organs and systems, describe the compensation mechanisms that are activated as a result of these changes and how they may themselves be the pathophysiological mechanisms of disease. The course shall introduce evidences that pathophysiology represents the basis for most of the laboratory test used for the diagnosis of human diseases MODULO IMMUNOPATOLOGIA.The fundamental objective of the course of immunology is the acquisition of the conceptual and scientific instruments for the understanding the function of the immune system both in healthy and disease state. In particular the objectives are: 1. Acquisition of the knowledge of the fundamental biological mechanisms regulating the functions of the immune system in the protection against diseases; 2. Acquisition of the knowledge of pathologic mechanisms of the immune system with particular emphasis on hypersensibility, autoimmunity and immunodeficiency ; 3. In-depth analysis of the immunology-associated techiques. MODULO PATOGENESI DEI TUMORI The main purpose of the course is to provide the student with the basic knowledge required for the comprehension of the bio-medical methodologies utilized in tumor biology and diagnosis. MODULO PATOLOGIA GENERALE Knowledge of the main mechanisms of molecular and cellular injury and the basic reactions of cecells and tissues to the abnormal stimuli that underlie diseases
Program
The syllabus of this multidisciplinaty course is a compendium of the specific topics includied in the individual courses of Pathology, Pathophysiology, Tumors and Immunology.
