Learning outcomes

The course aims to make students understand the role of genetic testing in the clinical course of the patient. The course also aims to provide an updated view of molecular biology techniques that are used in different clinical settings including prenatal diagnosis of genetic and chromosomal disorders, diagnosis of mendelian and oncoematologic diseases, infertility and pharmacogenetics.

•Cystic fibrosis: pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and diagnosis
•Male infertility: laboratory tests in the diagnosis of congenital causes
•Molecular biology in oncohematological diseases
•Prenatal diagnosis: molecular and cytogenetic testing
•Diagnostics of Genetic diseases in mental retardation
•Hemocromatosis: pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and diagnosis
•Application of Pharmaco-genetics and -genomics
