Learning outcomes
The role of computer science applied to statistics in health structures and its use for management, public health, surveillance and epidemiological evaluation.
Program
1) Current health informative flows and their IT management (focus on examples of informative flows in the Trento Health Service.
2) Criteria for data management on health informative flows: operational, clinical and epidemiological aspects.
3) How to manage data in a dataset/database.
4) Criteria for processing, representing and spreading health data. Synthetic representations of data: frequency distributions, graphs, centrality and variability indicators.
5) Practical exercises using Microsoft Excel.
6) Integrated use of health informative flows and database. Examples from literature and applications in the Trento Health Service background.
7) Health indicators in epidemiology: rates (incidence and prevalence) and odds.
Examination Methods
The exam consists in the resolution of two practical exercises on a computer using Microsoft Excel.
Once the student has finished the exam (maximum 1 hour of time), he/she must save his/her file on the desktop or on a special folder, and send it by e-mail to the teacher.
