Program
The program foresees the deepening of the following topics: - Introduction to the most frequent causes of mortality and their risk factors;
- Pathophysiology of the vascular system with particular reference to thromboembolic and haemorrhagic lesions;
- Pathophysiology of the heart, with a focus on ischemic changes, electrical conduction disorders, causes and clinical manifestations of heart failure and the main types of shock;
- Concept of homeostasis; pathophysiology of simple acid-base disorders with an introduction to dual disorders;
- Pathophysiology of the kidney with particular reference to acute and chronic renal insufficiency;
- Arterial hypertension: causes, classification systems, cardiovascular risk stratification and prognostic consequences; notes on diabetes;
- Pathophysiology of the digestive system with particular reference to the liver; causes and prognostic significance of liver cirrhosis and its main complications;
- Pathophysiology of the lung and respiratory insufficiency in particular.

Learning assessment procedures
The evaluation of the learning of the module is carried out through a written assignment with multiple choice questions.
In specific cases, it is possible to arrange an oral exam.
