Learning outcomes

Students will be introduced to one or more subjects concerning both ecclesiastical and secular societies and institutions during Late Antiquity and Middle Ages, and will gain the methodological and critical tools needed to carry on a research project.

Program

First part (V. Zangara):
The western Church history took a new direction during the papacy of Leo the Great (440-461), concerning especially the primacy of Roman Church. After a general introduction about this pope, some of the most significant aspects of his papacy will be analised and critically discussed.
