The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Learning objectives

Learning outcomes: Knowledge and capacity to understand At the end of the course, the student should: - have a basic knowledge of the fundamentals of socio-cultural anthropology; - have a basic knowledge of the themes and main methods; - have a basic knowledge of the main anthropological thoughts about the globalization phenomenon; - have a basic knowledge of the fundamental principles that anthropological knowledge can bring to the study of emergency governance and especially of contemporary migrations. Knowledge and capacity to apply understanding At the end of the course, the student should be able to: - propose anthropological reflections in terms of globalization phenomena; - interpret a state of crisis, particularly in relation to migrations and/or Roma and Sinti presences, with an anthropological-cultural angle; - apply the method of cultural relativism. Independent judgment At the end of the course, the students will have acquired: - the capacity to critically analyze situations in which there is a considerable presence of culturally di-verse people; - the capacity to critically interpret behaviours based on diverse or opposing cosmologies. Communication skills At the end of the course, the students should be able to: - consciously use specific terms relating to anthropological-cultural themes; - speak precisely about the theme of cultural alterity; - consciously use specific anthropological-cultural terms relating to migratory themes. Capacity to learn At the end of the course, the students should be able to: - identify and analyze the way in which the theme of cultural diversity is dealt with in the principal phenomena linked to globalization; - find the necessary sources to develop an interdisciplinary cultural anthropology and political-juridical study analysis modality on crisis states.

- the application potential of anthropology in the management of various contemporary emergency situations

Didactic methods

Introductory in-person lectures; practical classroom exercises for experimenting with certain phases of ethnographic research (e.g., researching written sources; drafting field diaries; analysis of ethnographic data); scheduled educational trips to local associations.

Learning assessment procedures

Learning assessment will be carried out in one of the following ways:
- for attendees (those who attend in presence): ongoing evaluations of the practical exercises carried out in the classroom plus the production of a final report which can be presented in written form or in the form of an oral presentation to the class group.
- for non-attendees: oral examination on the texts indicated.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Students are expected to demonstrate that they
- have understood the relevant elements underlying ethnographic methodologies;
- have understood how ethnographic knowledge is applied to crisis contexts;
- are able to present their arguments in a coherent and meticulous manner, identifying and selecting the essential elements for exposition;
- are able to relate anthropological theory to ethnographic practice.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The assessment test will be in marked in thirtieths.

Le attività che consentono l’acquisizione dei crediti riservati alle attività formative a libera scelta dello studente (TAF D) sono le seguenti:
• Un insegnamento attivato nei Corsi di studi afferenti al Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche;
• Un laboratorio didattico attivato nei Corsi di studi afferenti al Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche;
• Un insegnamento previsto dall’Offerta Formativa di Ateneo, non impartito nell’ambito dei corsi di studi afferenti al Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche: il riconoscimento dei crediti acquisiti sarà subordinato alla preventiva presentazione di coerenti programmi formativi valutati e approvati dal Collegio didattico.
• Attività formative organizzate dai singoli docenti del Collegio didattico o del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche: previa approvazione del Collegio;
• Attività formative che implicano la partecipazione a convegni o seminari organizzati sotto il “logo” del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche o dell’Ateneo: devono essere preventivamente approvate dal Collegio didattico indicando un docente di riferimento del Collegio didattico ovvero del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche.
• Attività formative che implicano la partecipazione a convegni o seminari organizzati prive del “logo” del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche o dell’Ateneo: devono essere approvate dal Collegio didattico indicando un docente di riferimento del Collegio didattico ovvero del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche.

Le attività che consentono l’acquisizione dei crediti riservati alle ulteriori attività formative (TAF F) sono le seguenti:
• Ulteriori competenze linguistiche (6 cfu)

Internships

Internships are aimed at enabling students to gain direct knowledge of the world of work and to acquire specific professional skills.

Internships are carried out under the responsibility of an individual lecturer, and can be carried out in professional firms, public administration bodies and companies recognised by the University of Verona.

Any CFU credits gained by doing internships will be recognised and recorded by the University in accordance with the relevant University regulations in force (Regolamento d’Ateneo per il riconoscimento dei crediti maturati negli stage universitari).
