Learning outcomes

Comprehension and analysis of contemporary artworks. Critic and historical attitude in using the methodological tools of the discipline. How to research in the field of Contemporary Art History. Deep knowledge of the monographic topic of the course.

Program

Background: Knowledge of the Art History of Medieval, Modern and Contemporary ages

Content: The course will deal with the main events, theories and artworks of Visual Art from the turn of 1968 until the 2000s. The lectures will also focus on some more general trend of Visual Arts during this period as the rise of Institutional Critique, of Gender Theory, or Globalization.

Methodology of teaching: Lectures with the projections of artwork pictures, visual tests, and an anthology of Art Critics. One study visit to a close museums could be scheduled during the course.

Examination Methods

Written (with two questions) and further oral examition asking to: develop an art-historical and critical narration in order to conceptually gather some artworks; recognize, describe and comment specific artworks; aswer to art-historical and theoretical questions about the topic of the course; compare art critics texts and images.
The exam will scrutinize the individual knowledge concerning the topic of the course; each own competence in autonomously analyzing artworks; theorical awareness and critical approach to the topic

Students who cannot attend the lectures should plan with the professor a specific bibliography
