Learning outcomes

The laboratory allows students to learn to use English to gain knowledge and skills in the school field. They will come into possession of notions, information and data related to the education and, in particular, to the teaching / learning field, through films, written or audiovisual documents.

Program

The workshop focuses on the following skills: reading, translating and understanding English texts on pedagogical-didactic subjects. The topics addressed will be: teaching a foreign language; the scholastic institutions and the explicit and implicit pedagogical and didactic models that govern them;
epistemologically oriented disciplinary didactics and disciplinary / notional didactics: the case of geography according to John Dewey; Burrus Frederic Skinner and his 'teaching machines': the season of behaviorism; technologies in the classroom: the point of view of Neil Selwyn; the research of bibliography in English on topics related to the field of human sciences, with particular reference to the school; the narrative about class life: a literary example (Because of Mr. Terupt, by Rob Buyea).

Examination Methods

The exam will be written and will consist in the translation in Italian of an abstract relative to an article or a book in English on topics related to the field of human sciences, with particular reference to the school.
