Learning outcomes

------------------------
MM: FISIOLOGIA
------------------------
Learning the basic concepts of scientific thinking and their application to the living organism; applying the acquired knowledge to design and carry out simple didactic activities and evaluate their learning.
------------------------
MM: BOTANICA
------------------------
- Understand and be able to explain the methods by which science proceeds and is spread; - understand and be able to explain the evolutionary mechanisms through which the living beings change; - understand and be able to describe the different levels of organization and complexity of living organisms; -be able to recognize the systematic categories of belonging of the main living groups, according to modern taxonomic rules, and to be able to describe their characteristics; - understand the differences in the life strategy of plants and animals and be able to explain them from an evolutionary point of view; - describe the relationships between living beings through the main types of metabolisms and trophic networks.

Program

------------------------
MM: FISIOLOGIA
------------------------
------------------------ MM: Lezione ------------------------ - How substances move in the organism - "Animal electricity": cellular potentials and communication - How the muscle contracts and reflex movements - Brain and central control of movement - Sensitivity: body sensation and pain - Eye and vision - Hearing, balance, and chemical senses - How the heart works - How do we breathe - How the kidney works - Digestion and absorption of foods - The hormones. ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------ The laboratory module is organized into two independent parts, and the related programs are: Part 1: practical use of the brightfield optical microscope (laboratory experience). Part 2: Evaluation of the truthfulness of a news indicated as "scientific" by researching its sources (practical experience in the classroom). ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------ Biology laboratory to understand how to approach microscopy, enzimology, pigment extractions, pH measurements, physiology and perception with children. ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------ Biology laboratory to understand how to approach microscopy, enzimology, pigment extractions, pH measurements, physiology and perception with children. ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------

MM: BOTANICA
------------------------
-(almost) all the living being are made up of cell/cells; -the diversity of living organisms: prokaryotes and eukaryotes, unicellular and multicellular organisms, autotrophic and heterotrophic organisms, the kingdoms of eukaryotes, the "superior" organisms (higher plants and animals); -Relationships between living beings (metabolisms and trophic networks); -the organisms evolve; - animals and plants have different life strategies; - science and scientists share a method of investigation (the scientific method) and a method of disseminating scientific discoveries (publication through "peer review").

Examination Methods

------------------------
MM: FISIOLOGIA
------------------------
------------------------ MM: Lezione ------------------------ Written report, on both the matter of the course and the corresponding didactic activity. ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------ The skills acquired will be evaluated during the laboratory experiences, through the interaction between the students and the teacher. In particular, the students, divided into working groups, will have to report their evaluation and their conclusions of a case study assigned by the teacher. ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------ Oral and practical ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------ Oral and practical ------------------------ MM: Laboratorio ------------------------
