Learning outcomes
A) Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student must:
- know the paradigmatic and epistemological foundations that justify participatory research;
- know the main methods and strategies of participatory research.
B) Knowledge and applied understanding ability
At the end of the course the student will have acquired:
- the ability to design participatory researches contextualized in kindergarten and primary school.
C) Autonomy of judgment
At the end of the course the student will have acquired:
- the ability to analyze participatory research experiences carried out in kindergarten and in primary school, identifying the constitutive elements, strengths and criticalities in an improvement perspective.
D) Communicative skill
At the end of the course, students must:
- knowing how to use the specific terms relating to participatory research in an informed way;
- knowing how to communicate to colleagues their choice of participatory research project and knowing how to compare constructively with the visions of others;
- knowing how to effectively document participatory research interventions.
E) Learning to learn skill
At the end of the course, students must:
- knowing how to analyze the different modalities of participatory research in order to meet the needs of different contexts;
- be able to find sources necessary to develop effective participatory research methods.
Program
Acquiring research and reflective knowledge and skills that allow designing and implementing effective teaching paths and identifying and resolving critical issues within learning contexts represents today an essential element of the professionalism of a teacher-researcher.
A student-centred approach will be adopted during the course, with moments of frontal lessons alternating with active and cooperative learning and assessment strategies.

Examination Methods
The final exam consists of a two-part exam:
1) Exam with open answers, aimed at evaluating the achievement of reflection and argumentation objectives. The outcome of this exam is worth 50% of the final grade. The evaluation criteria are the following: degree of coherence of the answer with the question, degree of in-depth understanding of the concepts, use of an appropriate language for the scientific topics/concepts dealt with.
2) Creation of a personal representation of the role of teacher-researcher. The outcome of this exam is worth 50% of the final grade. The evaluation criteria will be explained in class and included, together with specific information for the development, in a Moodle section dedicated to this exercise.
