Learning objectives

The course aims to illustrate the basic principles for the pre- (DTI, nTMS, neuropsychological evaluation) and intra-operative (intraoperative neurophysiology) of patients operated on for brain gliomas

Prerequisites and basic notions

To be recruited in the PhD program in Neuroscience, Psychological and Psychiatric Sciences, and Movement Sciences of the Verona University

Program

This course aims to provide basic knowledge on the modern principles of surgical treatments of brain gliomas, with a focus on the functional approach to brain surgery. This includes pre-surgical neuroimaging (tractography, navigated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), neuronavigation, intraoperative neurophysiology (cortical and subcortical mapping, monitoring of motor, visual and sensory function), and awake surgery. Methods and illustrative cases will be presented and discussed.
