Learning outcomes

The course concentrates on teoretical and metedological aspect of family sociology. Different tipes and variations of families will be discussed with a focus on actual phenomena of familiy in Europe and on a local level in South Tyrol. The course has the goal to promote students capacity of critical reflection on family developements, on comunity, social and health services for family support, labour market and gender perspectives in social analisis.
Students will have a good knowledge of the main arguments discussed during the course and to reflect critically actual phenomena of family on a micro and macro level.

Program

- Theoretical introduction to the Sociology of Organisations
- Types of organisations: public administration and bureaucracy, humanitarian organisations, professional organisations, hospital as an organisation.
- Power and power relations in hospitals, medicine, nursing care (power as a basic concept of sociology of organizations)
