Course of study in brief

Characteristics and Purposes

The Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business of the University of Verona provides students with the necessary tools for understanding the functioning of the economic and financial systems, and of the companies that make them up. The degree enables students to achieve an extensive knowledge of economics, finance and business management, of the measurement, analysis and modelling of economic and financial phenomena, of the evolution of economic systems from a historical perspective and of the legal regulations governing the relationships among individuals, companies and enterprises.

The aim of the degree is to prepare future graduates to face the challenges and the changes resulting from the continuous technological progress within companies, in the economic and financial systems, as well as in society. A large part of the new professions requires an excellent knowledge of economics, finance and business management disciplines, together with decision-making competences based on the gathering, management and analysis of the growing mass of information available today.

To achieve these objectives, the compulsory subjects are complemented with many optional activities like workshops, laboratories on some of the main IT tools used in business, banking and insurance companies, as well as meetings with managers from relevant companies. Moreover, the degree gives the opportunity to carry out an internship at a company, a public administration office, an agency or research institution. Students will be given the chance to spend some time abroad through international mobility study programs such as Erasmus+ and Worldwide. It is worth noticing that the second semester of the third year is characterized by the presence of a basket of subjects, mostly delivered through laboratory activities, from which students are allowed to choose the ones they deem most appropriate to refine their knowledge in the desired direction.
