PhD students must obtain a specified number of CFUs each year by attending teaching activities offered by the PhD School.
First and second year students must obtain 8 CFUs. Teaching activities ex DM 226/2021 provide 5 CFUs; free choice activities provide 3 CFUs.
Third year students must obtain 4 CFUs. Teaching activities ex DM 226/2021 provide 2 CFUs; free choice activities provide 2 CFUs.

Learning objectives

The course aims to provide expertise that is required to perform more advanced statistical analysis, in order to interpret complex data patterns ruled by hidden or observed variables. Further, expertise for the realisation and interpretation of meta-analyses will also be provided. The course mainly targets human sciences, also with the aid of open source statistical software (R and JAMOVI).

Prerequisites and basic notions

he course will be delivered via Zoom; at least 70% attendance is required. At most 20 students will be admitted; precedence will be given to students in the Arts and Humanities area. Precedence criteria: 1. enrollment in a course of the Arts and Humanities area; 2. registration order.
Intermediate level statistics provides modules that are offered to all students of the PhD School. Students can choose the modules to attend according to their interests and acquired knowledge. Attendance of at least 20 hours is required to obtain credits.

Program

1. ANOVA: One way ANOVA, factorial designs, repeated measure designs, mixed designs (4 hours)
2. Path analysis, Mediation and moderation analysis (4 hours)
3. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (4 hours)
4. Introduction to Meta-analysis, focused on Human Sciences Research (literature review, data collection, database
construction) (4 hours)
5. Application of meta-analysis in social science and humanities fields (2 hours)
6. Test on acquired expertise (2 hours)
